Once there was a month of November....and a busy momma who had a big to do list, and the plan to blog thirty days of thankfulness. And the momma did blog, and post a few photos, and scurry around doing all of the busy things mommas do. And then, Thanksgiving arrived....and the momma and her beautiful little girl made pies and rolls and all sorts of delicious things, and the momma and the daddy and the little girl packed up and spent Thanksgiving Day at "Gramma and Grampa's house"....and the momma and the Gramma and the little girl did go shopping the day after Thanksgiving.
the momma got sick. With a big nasty, mean germ that meant lots of coughing and sneezing and sleeping for the poor, tired, sick momma. And the little girl and her handsome daddy did everything they could to help the momma feel better.
But the momma fell behind on her blog. And on the laundry. And the dishes. And the housework. And a million other things. And the momma was tired, and still sneezing and coughing, and sick and frustrated.
And on the last day of December, the momma said "forget it"....I'll just try again with the December Daily.

I am thankful for worship. Thankful that my daughter's school makes it such a priority -- they had Thanksgiving Chapel and Morning Prayer this morning -- thankful that we start our week with worship at our church .... a place where we center ourselves and ground ourselves and are reminded weekly that we are poor, miserable sinners .... who are blessed to have eternal life because of what Jesus did on the cross for us!

I am SO thankful for our small group Bible study at our church (called a CareCiple group). This is the third CareCiple group I've been involved in ... the first was a singles group where I met hubby! The second was another young married's group. And then there's the group we are involved in today. We've been a small group for a few years -- we have everything from newly weds to couples that have been married almost 13 years. New babies, kid stories, problems, challenges, prayers and praises -- these are some truly special folks I am blessed to have in my life!

Today, I am thankful for awesome clients like this one....We had a great meeting this morning -- we're revamping this group's website and creating some fun children's programming too. I am a lucky girl to be able to freelance from home for groups like this one!

I am thankful for the bounty we enjoy in this country. Yes, prices are going up on just about everything, and the economy is questionable -- but I am thankful for the simple fact that I can go to the local grocery store and fill my cart with everything my family needs - and pay for it. We are blessed. It's easy, at times, to remember the little things.

This morning, I am so thankful that my daughter is feeling much better - - - after a rough several days of a very bad ear infection and some related concerns. Thankful that she does not need additional surgery (as we thought, for many hours) and thankful that she is well enough to return to school today. She was VERY excited this morning!

Today, I am thankful for a quiet, "home day" Saturday. We haven't had one in a long time. After a very busy and stressful last week, we certainly needed one. The morning was filled with paints, a sheet tent, cartoons, books, dolls, toys, some computer work for mommy and some much needed rest and refreshment for this little family. Peace. Happiness. Bliss.

Today, I am thankful for a family friend that just happens to be E's ENT. After a pediatrician visit yesterday that left us with some unexpected bad news, I am thankful for the doctor friend that "fit us in" today so he could take a look....and come to find out the bad news was not true at all....E just has a nasty ear infection ... with rest and meds she will be good as new. In the span of 24 hours, I went from thinking E would need surgery to knowing that a few basic prescriptions would get her on the road back to health. Thankful, indeed.

I am thankful for my daughter's small, private Christian school. Yes, I grew up there and we still attend the affiliated church. But today it really hit home for me. I attended the all-school spelling bee this afternoon (E was a finalist for first grade - go E!) And before the event started, the principal led everyone in prayer. Prayer! Not something you'd see every day in most schools. But it's common here. And for that, I am thankful!

Today, I am thankful for naps. After a crazy few days of a sick daughter, a school board meeting, a big client meeting and various other forms of crazy, I could not go any more this afternoon. I curled up with our kitty cat and took a nap before getting sweet E from school. I could have slept much longer, but at least I was able to get a little bit of rest!

Today, I am thankful for a freelance schedule that allows me to "drop everything" to stay home with my sick daughter. (And thankful for a retired Daddy who can stay with E so I can still go to an important meeting this afternoon). I am also thankful for our sweet Percy-cat, who takes watching over a sick E very seriously! He loves that little girl!

We are rapidly hurtling towards Thanksgiving, Christmas and the end of 2012. Sweet E is in school all day. So many people have said to me "you have more free time!". Not so - I am busier than ever! But I am thankful. Thankful to volunteer at E's wonderful school. Thankful to have freelance work that I love. Thankful to have the flexibility to try to "do it all". We are blessed, friends, so very blessed.
