L is for Library...

E has been having so much fun reading these three books (among many others) following her recent preschool class library field trip. I must say, I'm really enjoying these books too....the illustrations are amazing!

We've also been doing some "trashy reading" around here again with these favorites!

What's in your book pile this week?

(Also, check out this related awesome post about 7 Ways to Encourage Your Child to Read....this speaks to my heart! We love books and library time at this house. So important, and so fun!)

Morgan LOVES the book "Dear Mermaid." Such a sweet story about a little girl and a mermaid writing letters back and forth to learn more about each other. The mermaid's letters are inside envelopes that are attached to the pages. The mermaid also sends the little girl special trinkets...like a seahorse charm, a mini-coloring book, a paper frame, a little game, etc. It is so adorable and we've been reading it every night for the past two months! She can't get enough! She's also been really into "Where the Sidewalk End"...such a classic.

Thanks for the book suggestions! I can't wait to check them out!

In our latest library haul we picked up How the Camel got his Hump. Great little story by Rudyard Kipling and the illustrations are fun. Sami is working on the letter A, so lots of books about apples, ants and apes. Abby, through her Girl Scout troop, is learning about poverty and hunger. Beatrice's Goat and Potato: A Depression Tale were good books that examined this issue in an age appropriate manner. And, of course, Abby grabbed a bunch of Level 2 early reader books for herself. Right now, both of my girls want to be librarians!
