Fun morning with sweet friends...

A wonderful gift...

We recently discovered that a friend of a friend was giving away a solid wood entertainment center. Although we'd loved the entertaintainment center we had, we'd kind of been thinking it would "someday" be nice to have a different center with doors, so we could close off the TV and stereo at times. We're not a big TV family, so it's not a big focal point in our living room. After seeing photos of the center that was being given away, we fell in love! Now, this beautiful new piece has a place in our home, and we gifted our old center to another friend.

What an amazing gift!

Sweet times with my girl...

E was such a big helper this year when we planted some annual color in our pots in the backyard. We had such a fun time working on this project together!

Poor kitty...

E's been trying to play with Victoria a lot lately. Victoria does NOT appreciate the effort. The other day, I found this:



E told me she'd fed the kitty (two toy mice and a plastic plate) and was trying to keep her warm (with a baby washcloth?). One of these days, I just know E is going to try to dress that poor cat in doll clothes.....

And he saw that it was good....

The time finally came for hubby to try his homebrew!

Creative mind...

We nearly cracked up after spotting E in the backyard in this creative getup....

she told us she was a firefighter going to put out a fire?!!?

I knew this wasn't going to end well...

You guessed correctly, shortly after snapping these photos, this huge lace bark elm limb crashed down into our yard and landed on our fence. The fence is actually fine, suffering only a minor cracked board, but the limb managed to fall around midnight last Saturday, meaning hubby and I had some super bonding time in the backyard in the middle of the night trying to clean up the mess! We didn't want to limb to lay on the fence all night, for fear the weight of it would cause further damage. We love this huge tree, so we're working with an arborist to get it trimmed (again!) and thinned out, so it doesn't cause further damage!

You just gotta do it...

Decisions, decisions...

Home improvement...

Hubby has been working on insulating portions of our attic and putting in new flooring (so we have more space to store all of our junk!) What a big, dusty job!

Daddy time...

The other night, I was trying to get some freelance work done -- I've had too many deadlines piling up all at once lately -- hubby was playing with E and they were making a ton of noise. I asked them to tone it down a bit, then went back to work. Later, I realized the house was eerily quiet....then I found out where they were hiding....in hubby's car in the garage! They were listening to music and goofing around. E thought it was so much fun! She asks regularly now to go "sit in Daddy's car...." So funny!

Mommy, get it down!

E got a free helium balloon last weekend while we were running errands. She ran all over the house with it, bapped the cat with it, and generally had a good time playing. The concept of helium rising, though, is still a bit of a mystery to her. I found her in our bedroom staring up at the ceiling and just pointing....she did not understand how her balloon got "stuck" way up there! Hubby and I retrieved it more than a few times before it lost its ability to float....this photo just cracks me up!
