I love blue....

Those of you who know me well know that I love the color blue, in all shapes and forms.

So it should come as no surprise to see the photo below. Something about this table setting just made me smile. We had friends over for Chinese a few weeks ago, and this was the dish selection we used. (I love dishes too....but we'll save that for another post...)

With thanks to God....

We are praising God with our friends the Chambers. They have been fostering a beautiful little boy named Ethan (a sweet little friend of our E's) for many months with the hope of adopting him. Today his biological mother terminated her rights - and Ethan's adoption into the Chambers home will be finalized on Friday.

Praise God for His goodness and grace!

It's Fall...Y'all!...Well, almost....

This week E colored her pumpkin for the library's pumpkin patch wall, and we turned it in today when she went to story time. Check out her artwork!

Growing Girl....

Tonight for dinner, our daughter ate:

-diced peaches
-corn
-green peas
-two chicken tenderloins
-a strawberry cereal bar
-some of mommy's chocolate ice cream

Good grief! Some adults I know don't eat that much....growing girl!

Free!

I love, love, love our local rEcycle group. I recently scored a free, pristine Step2 Kitchen for E off of this email list several weeks ago.

Today, I obtained a free, new in the package Medela Lactina hospital-grade breastpump (retails from $500-$800) for a dear friend of mine who's having a baby girl in December. (Little Anna Louise will be my god-daughter! :-) So cool!)

I realized that most people do not give away items of this quality on these Freecycle and rEcycle email lists, but I have been overly blessed! Today's pickup also included many books for E and several sackfuls of cool building blocks. I can hardly wait to play with them! :-)

Budding artist....

E finally figured out that crayons are used to draw on paper (versus being used as a teething chew item or tasty snack). Her first attempt at artistic expression is below! Currently, she seems to favor her right hand....but I'm told that could change...

Creative play?

Last night, E was entertaining herself at the fridge for a very long time while I was making dinner. We have an assortment of magnets and fridge toys that she enjoys playing with. When I turned around to see what she was doing, I saw this...

Apparently, she was stuffing her little number magnets between the doors of the side-by-side fridge...and was enthralled, because they all stayed in there! When I opened the door of the fridge to get something out, half of the magnets fell out, but half of them stayed stuck to the side of the door. Hilarious! Now, it's a new game for her...mommy gets all of the magnets out, then she stuffs them in there all over again....too funny!

'Tis the season....

to bring out the fall decorations....wahoo! One of my favorite times of year!

Let the fun begin!...

E tried spaghetti for the first time this week. She hasn't figured out how to "slurp" the noodles, and the entire process is, of course, messy....but oh what a fun thing to eat! I'll have to get some pics of it, it's too cute!

Happy Baby...

I love, love, love the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Crib Toy...I always have....it's been something soothing to E in her crib from birth, and the peaceful lights and music are a sweet comfort to her as she falls asleep.

This morning, E woke around 7:30, and played and talked in her crib for a while...suddenly I heard a symphony of music from her room -- she'd switched on the music setting on the aquarium, and played in her bed while the music went on and on ....I heard her talking to her stuffed dog and chattering to the "other baby" in her crib mirror. E played in her bed for almost an hour before demanding to get out for breakfast! What a cheerful, happy, peaceful way to start the day!

Sweet surprise...

My husband is a sweet man! He just showed up at the house -- in the middle of his workday -- with 18 red roses for me "just because" ...to surprise me and tell me that he loves me.

Happy Birthday to you...

It's a special day! Three very wonderful people have birthdays today!

1. My best friend in the whole world...Jennifer....she's pictured here on the left with her mom, brother and sister at her little brother's wedding last month.

2. Our friend Ethan...one of E's favorite kids to play with, and son of my dear friend Brit.

3. Ben's uncle Landon, who lives in Anna. How fun is it that all three of these people share the same birthday!

Happy Birthday to all of you!
