Old friends...

On Saturday, an old friend of mine was married in a beautiful ceremony at the Dallas Arboretum. We've known each other since 11th grade sociology (what an awful class), we lived together in college and again after college...until I kicked her out of our apartment when I married dear hubby! :-) She's a sweet wonderful girl, and I am so thrilled that she's found her life mate...

At the wedding, I also had a chance to connect with two other college friends. We all live far apart now, so it was a sweet time to see my dear friends! Friendship is such a blessing!

Blessings....

While God did not opt to bless me with siblings, He has blessed me with many girlfriends that are as close to me as sisters. These friends are such a blessing to me. They encourage me daily, share in my joys, sorrows, trials and frustrations.

One such special friend is my best friend Jennifer. We've known each other since we were about three or four years old....we talk or instant message almost daily. What DID we do before email and instant messaging! :-)

Ahhhh....

Don't you love the feeling of a new haircut? In addition to shaping up some badly grown out locks, it makes you feel like you lost 5 lbs in the region of your head! Refreshing!

Now, if it was only that easy to lose weight from the rest of your body! :-)

Fun Sunday...

Hubby's sister and her boyfriend came for lunch and a visit today.

Such a blessing to spend an afternoon with family and enjoy fun and fellowship!

Contain yourself...

Have you ever been out shopping and REALLY wanted something, but knew you shouldn't buy it? Happens to all of us a lot of the time, right? I had it happen again last week....since I've become a Mom, our budget is definitely tighter, and I can't buy whatever I want, whenever I want like I used to. Last week I was really debating on a Very Bradley-like bag and a few other gifts for friends that caught my eye at a cute little gift shop....but I made myself walk away and told myself I'd think about it overnight. Know what? The urge to purchase most of the items went away! There is one little gift that is TOO PERFECT for a friend that I may go back and purchase. But I can honestly say I'm glad I waited on the other items. Phew!

(That being said, I spent way too much at WalMart SuperCenter and Sam's Club this week....those darn places will get you every time...groceries and then some...)

WalMart Wonders....

E entertained herself at WalMart today by placing an small empty cardboard item display tray on her head while we were shopping. She loves the toddler food dried apples available at WalMart, so I picked up a display tray - it holds four little bags of the goodies. E promptly snatched the tray out of the cart and proceeded to plop it on her head and giggle like mad. We provided quite a bit of entertainment for shoppers and employees alike....she wore her "box hat" for the rest of the shopping trip!

Love that creative and silly child o' mine!

Favorite book...

E's favorite book is currently the "Little Quack" book that hubby's parents got her for her birthday. Last night, I nearly died laughing....she went through her box of books flinging all others to the side digging for something. Little Quack was at the very bottom, of course - the last one. She finally got to it, picked it up, and with a huge, dramatic sigh, sat down and started paging through it saying "gak gak" (that's how she says quack) and jabbering. It was hilarious -- and too cute!

Yes, Indeed...I'm Walkin', Can't You See....

The baby girl is on the move!!!

E has been tearing around the house with her little car walker, giggling all the way. It's the cutest sound! She is quite proud of herself!

When she's not speed crawling or car-walkin', E is still dealing with the mean ol' teeth. The poor baby is really having a tough time. One of these days!.....

Rain, Rain, Go Away....

The rain continues!

True, the showers have been less often and less severe, but we're still very damp around here.
The result? Lots of mosquitoes and humidity, making backyard swinging, swimming and playtime most miserable and next to impossible.
But the rain has also caused my flowerbeds and plants to do amazingly well this year. I don't want to complain about TOO MUCH water....last year we had such a drought. But the boggy, soggy days are a bit depressing! We're thankful for mornings like today, where we can see the sun!

When in doubt, chew on your toes!

E has been having some grumpy days lately...will the rest of those mean teeth ever come in? At 14 months old, she's still sporting one lone tooth....

When in doubt, chew on your toes! That always provides some much-needed relief!

TGIF!

Is it really Friday? This week has been kind of goofy with a holiday in the middle on Wednesday. And dear hubby had to work part of the day that day, anyway, so figuring out what day of the week it is has been challenging this week.

In the new experience department: E tried watermelon (not so sure about that), hamburger (loved it!) and steak (loved it! - my little meat eater...) this week.

We're looking forward to library story time again today....next week is the last week of story time until the end of August. I suppose the library ladies deserve a summer break, but E and I will miss going. She really enjoys the songs, stories and other children, and I love watching her learn!

TGIF! Even though it doesn't really feel like it! :-)
